DTIC's testing under the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program

DTIC will be engaged in tests at the Federal-Mogul facility in Blacksburg, Virginia leading to EPA verification of the performance of its innovative industrial wastewater treatment technology. The metal-working and metal-finishing facility produces wastewater containing oils, heavy metals and other contaminants which must be treated prior to wastewater discharge into the local POTW or otherwise managed for disposal. The facility presents a perfect test site for DTIC's ETV testing. DTIC wishes to express sincere appreciation to Federal-Mogul management and staff who so graciously have supported this effort.

These tests will take place 2-6 April and 9-13 April, 2001. During these periods, images from four cameras mounted in the mobile treatment unit will be displayed here. The images will be taken at approximately five minute intervals.

Due to the Easter holiday schedule, the third test will be conducted 23-27 April.

Transmission, processing, and access to the images is managed by Omnet, Inc. Omnet can deliver data to the web from a remote site anywhere in the world. The data can be images, sensor outputs, or any information in digital form.

According to EPA literature: "The purpose of the Environmental Technology Verification program is to convey objective, third party data to the environmental marketplace about the performance of new environmental technologies. It is believed that the increased availability of such information will assist decision makers to choose more effective and economically feasible technologies. Easy identification of technologies that have been tested and verified through ETV will facilitate the use of such data in the marketplace."
