DTIC, Innovative Technologies - Fixed-Site

Fixed-Site Treatment facility for an asphalt/paving company in Virginia. Fixed-Site Installations
DTIC's fixed-site systems are built according to customer specifications and can include the multi-stage, integrated process to remove hazardous pollutants of hydrocarbons (oils) and/or toxic heavy metals (and their salts) from mixed industrial and/or domestic hazardous wastewater.

This fixed-site plant was designed, engineered and built for processing the wastewater produced during the high-pressure washing of paving equipment and company vehicles at an asphalt/paving company located in Virginia.

Traditionally this type of wastewater has been difficult if not impossible to treat because of the presence of emulsified oils. Wastewater is collected in a sump outdoors and pumped indoors into a settling tank for the first stage of treatment

Operation of this plant is by specially designed program logic and is, essentially, hands-off. Setup requires a single operator and can be done in minutes. All processing is then controlled automatically. Hydrocarbons are efficiently removed from the wastewater and recovered for use in the company's oil burner and the cleaned water is pumped into a holding tank for reuse.

Operation of this plant will guarantee compliance with the company's wastewater discharge permit. Both the company and the environment will benefit through the reduction of water and sewer usage and by the reuse of the recovered hydrocarbons and water.

Fixed-site installations target only the treatment needs of the customer, taking advantage of the component nature of the process. As new processing needs arise additional components can be added.

Construction
DTIC Trailer housing industrial wastewater processing unit. Stages of the integrated process are assembled on-site as modules to provide standardization in manufacture and repair and for ease of maintenance of the process hardware. Proprietary sensors and computer software provide for real-time control of the entire operation of the plant and its on-going treatment process in a hands-off fashion, allowing for maximum quality of treatment and cost-effectiveness of operation as well as for minimum human interaction.

The plant is either built on-site as the above image shows or consists of the process equipment integrated into and housed within two (2) 8'w X 9.5'h X 40'l standard shipping containers. It is standardized in construction and operation, performs equally well as a mobile system or as a fixed site, and is able to go on-line in a matter of hours after reaching its destination. It is relatively lightweight and, being of standard shipping size, is able to be transported by land, rail, sea, or air nearly anywhere in the world. As a fixed site, it is removed from its transport vehicle and set onto a prepared foundation, receiving its influent wastewater from a series of holding tanks.
